HAMI organized reflection program on “Social Re-Building in Post-Quake Reconstruction in Nepal” on 26th February 2020 at Alfa House, New Baneshwor, Kathmandu. Representatives from government bodies, local government, associations, federations and networks, non-government organizations, earthquake affected families, media were present in the program. In the program, publication of reflection report under the title, Social Re-Building in Post-Quake Reconstruction in Nepal was shared among the participants. The report is a culmination of overall advocacy and lobby based initiatives made by HAMI in post-quake reconstruction advocating the social justice perspective in rebuilding the earthquake affected communities.
In the program, guests of the program were Jit Ram Lama, Resident of NGO Federation; Bharati Kumari Pathak, Chairperson of The Federation of community Forestry Users Nepal (FECOFUN) shared their observations and views in reconstruction progress and process. In the program, presentation was made by Dr. Padma Prasad Khatiwada, HAMI prepared based on the aforementioned report. Major areas of reflection of the HAMI initiatives in reconstruction through advocacy based campaign. The program was chaired by Samir Nepal, Senior Vice Chairperson of Human Rights Alliance.
Participants from the CSOs, media, and earthquake affected communities presented their observations and views with regards to post-quake reconstructions process and HAMI campaign. Overall, the program was successful to acknowledged constructive contribution made by HAMI in the areas of social rebuilding in post-quake reconstruction by asserting social justice approach. Issues and feedback raised in the program will be crucial for shaping the future course and strategy of the HAMI campaign in the areas of humanitarian monitoring areas.
